\nThe Board of the Mayo Society and I wish you all a happy, healthy St Patrick’s Day 2020 as you gather at home by your hearth with loved ones and with memories of celebrations past, dreaming of future ones.<\/strong> We will weather this moment and will appreciate all the more our rescheduled John Hume documentary to be shown at John Carroll University at a date to be determined later.<\/p>\n

We also offer congratulations to the Mayo Society’s Tom Scanlon, the Grand Marshall every day, not merely on St. Patrick’s Day!! What an honor Tom\u2014<\/span>cheers to you for doing us proud!<\/p>\n

Green and Red Ball 2019\"\"<\/a><\/h2>\n

The annual Mayo Society Ball takes place at the InterContinental Cleveland on Saturday, September 28th. Honoring Person of the Year Myles C. Gallagher, the event begins with cocktails and traditional harp music by Siobhan McCarthy at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner, a prize raffle, and dancing to the music of Mary’s Lane. Black tie is optional.<\/p>\n

Mayo Conference at John Carroll University<\/h2>\n

In conjunction with the annual Green & Red Ball, the Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland will be hosting the Cleveland-Mayo Business Roundtable on Friday, September 27 at John Carroll University. The topic this year is “Brexit: Opportunities and Challenges for the Business Community.” Matthew Crawford CEO Park Ohio will moderate a lively discussion, with expert panel members including Alan Ahearne (Director of the Whitaker Institute and Professor of Economics at the National University of Ireland, Galway) and Dr. Scott Moore (Associate Dean at John Carroll University), John Magee (Head of Enterprise Office, County Mayo) and Peter Hynes (Mayo County Executive) For more information, contact Shannon Day at 216-409-7572.<\/p>\n

The Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland was founded in 2004 as a not-for-profit corporation to provide a forum for information and activities of interest to individuals of Irish descent particularly those with ancestral ties to County Mayo.<\/span><\/p>\n
